deciding on the program i wanted
Amongst immense deliberating as to whether I could actually do this, to travel and study in a place entirely unfamiliar, I had much to consider. Finances, of course. Along with my academic intentions, requirements, and career. Following hours of contemplation, and thousands of conversations with friends and family, I discovered, I COULD DO THIS.
Then came the program type, I have just finished up my digital marketing internship at the Skechers Corporate office this summer, and I am itching to get back to working in the digital marketing realm. I absolutely loved every second of it, going back to school this fall almost feels daunting after truly thriving with my work this summer. So when I stumbled upon CIEE’s website and its options to be immersed in the business side of Sydney,
I knew this aligned with my every desire.
I had my heart set.

This was a difficult choice for me, after drawing one too many pros and cons sheets comparing Europe to Oceania, I knew I couldn't go wrong with either. I am supremely fortunate to have the option to go anywhere at all. Ultimately, as a southern California native, I landed upon the gorgeous and energetic city of Sydney, Australia, with glistening beaches and easy access to the city center, all centered around one of the most exquisite bays on earth, what could be better?

In my past professional experience, I have realized the importance of community in the workplace and collective, shared experiences, shaping the work we do. When I picture myself in a digital marketing internship role abroad, I envision collaboration, connections, and camaraderie. To me, the absence of a language barrier with locals in Sydney will not only allow me to gain a well-rounded understanding of corporate company culture in Australia but also lend me the opportunity to offer value to their marketing approach & my own perspectives on innovative business.
